George Bell and Johan Santana were also both rule five picks

But because this is 2021, they take a great pitchers duel like that, and in the 10th inning, turn it into a high school softball game ... putting the baserunner on second base and completely changing the strategy of the previous nine innings.

(And no, I'm not just saying this because the White Sox lost in 10. It's a stupid rule change ... even worse than the "doubleheader games are now seven innings" rule)

They’ve been killing aces by worrying about pitch counts and automatically taking people out.

Rule 5 eligible players aren’t nearly as enticing since they changed the rules on who was eligible.

This smacks of reporters hoping to find something bigger, nothing showing up, but needing something to show for all the work done.

    Exactly.
Doesn't strike me as a huge number.

Yeah, an average of four tickets each spring for an organization of perhaps 200 players and coaches if they’re counting everyone.

Equal to the average number of traffic violations committed by each elderly snowbird in St. Petersburg on the way to Publix and back.
