I've always enjoyed Walton's analysis and commentary; he's real, transparent, and not a homer. This just shows it even more. (And I rooted against UCLA in the 70's because they were always winning, even though I was a Cali kid, I even rooted for USC to beat them).

Is this a good time to mention that one of the Comedy Bang Bang podcast's recurring characters is a fake, even more over the top Bill Walton? Very NSFW:

U.S. Reed didn't have to bank it in.

Coaches always say that if you make a guy turn his momentum once in that situation, you’re good. Louisville did it three times. I think.

What you don't see is Reed had an open pass to (I think) Darrell Walker for a much better look from the top of the key.

Didn't matter much as LSU took care of business the following Friday.

Blanton came along later in Red Stick. Late 80s. That 1981 LSU Final Four team had Rudy Macklin, Howard Carter, Leonard Mitchell and a few others. They avenged a loss to Arkansas in the Great Alaska Shootout that boosted the Hogs into the Top Ten all that season.

You’re way off. This was 81. Blanton’s final four run was in 86.
