There seems to be a rule of thumb in NBA records: if someone is the second person in history to accomplish something, the first was Wilt. It they are the third to do it, the first two were Wilt and Oscar Robertson.

The sixties guys never get credit because the people who really saw them are in their 70s. (Russell is kind of an exception; 11 rings will do that for you.)

Exactly. It's really hard to look at Baylor's stats and make an argument for Kobe. There's also Shaq.

If you narrow the argument down to strictly accomplishments in a Lakers uniform you still have Magic unquestionably ahead of him, probably Kareem, arguably West and Baylor.

IIRC, Pearlman has said that he's doubtful he would have gotten the honesty and candor about Kobe from his interview subjects had Kobe passed away earlier. The truth wasn't all that great.

I need to read Pearlman's Laker books.

I just started Halberstam's "The Breaks of the Game" on the 79-80 Portland Trailblazers.

Haha, I read that as a teenager.

Not flipping through the internet. Like I do now.

Yep. I’m trying to get back in the habit of reading things that don’t include a “tl/dr” if they go past one paragraph.

Wouldn’t the logo of Kobe be him raping a girl bent over a chair?

Kobe is top 5 all time with Magic, Bird, Jordan, LeBron.

That's because they think guys like Russell and Wilt played against a bunch of plumbers without doing any actual research.

Cmon, that’s more ridiculous than Vlade is better than Kevin Garnett.
