Friends of mine from SEK are saying that some schools near the MO state line are arranging to have games vs. Missouri schools moved to the other team's court (if they weren't playing there already) so Kansas fans can go watch.

The school I used to cover plays in a tournament near Springfield every year, so anyone who can go over there is taking advantage of their only opportunity to go watch the team until then.

Pittsburg had to cancel its mid-season basketball tournament because so many of the other schools have travel restrictions. Springfield-area schools aren't being allowed to play out-of-state games and I guess some of the other Missouri schools that were invited have restrictions of their own.

Yes, in high school it's 15 yards, no automatic first down. NCAA is much better. And the DPI thrown on that last drive was a horrible flag. Not even close to being DPI.

"Bittersweet" That's the headline? And "Bobcats win, earn playoff berth, lose start defender."

He didn't break his leg. He flat-out ambushed the referee. And, yeah, I'd be seeking charges for that.

The officials blew it by not forfeiting the game. When an already-ejected player charges back on the field and commits aggravated assault on an official requiring ambulance care -- bang zoom, you're done, hang it up and go home.

Don't believe they have that kind of jurisdiction. But this is Texas and they play under mostly NCAA rules.

The UIL would never have the guts to do it, but here's what should happen next to make sure the adults in charge don't let this happen again.

    1. The school's athletic department should be banned from participating in any extracurricular activities of any kind for the next 12 months.
    2. The head football coach should have his certification revoked and be given a lifetime ban from participating in any UIL event.
    3. The school's athletic director (assuming it's not the football coach) should be censured by THSADA and placed on a one-year suspension.
    4. The superintendent of schools should be called before the Texas public school board to explain how this student was allowed to participate in football after his conduct last year led to a season-long suspension in another sport.
    5. The UIL should fine the high school district $500,000 for conduct detrimental to the safety and security of the sport.
