The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, located in Little Rock, is seeking a versatile sports designer to join our desk.

The primary responsibility is to design pages, but editing and writing experience are big pluses. We pride ourselves on having a versatile crew that works as a team.

This is not a hub. This is not designing 30 pages for six papers in one night, although there are a couple of different editions that involve tweaking.

The job requires night time and weekend work.

Experienced and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply from both near and afar.

Little Rock is the capital city of Arkansas with a population of nearly 600,000 in the metro area. There are plenty of entertainment options inside the city, and various state parks and outdoor activities are within an hour’s drive. The area has a little something for everyone.

Applicants should submit a resume, cover letter and five design samples to Assistant Sports Editor Jason Yates at jyates@adgnewsroom.com. References will be required upon request.

It's the statewide newspaper in Little Rock. Jason is a good dude. Not sure if you've heard of what we're doing (I'm at the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette) with the digital edition, but the program is exceeding expectation. Here is a link to a story that published in January that details the program. The Arkansas Gamble: Can a Tablet and a Print Replica Rescue Local News?

The just-launched Denver Gazette is doing the same thing.
