He did what he was supposed to do. My guess for a successor? How about Donnie Kelly
Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson should be hitters to build around

They have a lot of pieces. The AL Central has the chance to be powerpacked. Only the Royals are really hurting.

Lot of speculation on the boards that Gardenhire's health issue, whatever it is, must be fairly significant to quit right now, and not wait another week.

Personally I doubt that makes that much difference for either Gardenhire or the team.

IIRC Ausmus left with about 10 games left in the season too

They have had a problem with tradeable pitchers either getting hurt (Fulmer) or hit (Boyd)
They might finally have a trade commodity in Daniel Norris
He isn’t starting but he is healthy and pitching well
Teams always figure they can fix a guy like him
    They need a young outfielder

This braves- Mets broadcast on fox is the worst television disaster I’ve ever seen. Anderson walks the bases loaded while they are talking to Adam duval, who is mic ed up in the outfield. Barely any mention of the walks, but we do know that duval isn’t a good golfer, and doesn’t know who the best golfer on the team is.
They also tried to interview him in the dugout in the top of the first, but somehow it was drowned out by the fake crowd noise.
Who the hell is this idiot with smoltz? He did manage to make duval chuckle with his pithy comments.

Yeah but I think part of that was Ausmus may have wanted to get his name out in the mix for possible coaching/managing jobs after the WS, although as I recall he took a job as a "consultant" for a season anyway.

Tigers announcers mentioned that during the broadcast tonight.
