I don't think this is true. And vastly overrates this impact of this statement.

One of the rare instances where Paterno wasn't looking the other way.

This is the important part. Many of us put our personal feelings aside because it was a case of choosing country and drinking whatever wretched brew of human waste and corporate flotsam the parties insisted was the best mug of cocoa ever over giving in to personal conviction that they were both miserable pieces of trash. We picked the lesser of the two evils.

It really was a low bar. A well-educated person who seemed to understand how government works over someone who seems to view People Magazine as a policy white paper.

    She had one job.

    So does Biden.

Then again, I hate politicians and would not be sad if they were all eaten by rabid Space Monkeys.

A democracy needs skilled politicians to function. Some of those skills are unappetizing, but they're necessary.

Tim Kaine is one of about 822 things that cost Hillary the election, but it was a major unforced error.

The guy has the magnetism of a boulder and prevented her from losing exactly 0 votes. Al Gore looks like Obama compared to Kaine.

She needed someone who could help retain voters. Bernie (I know he wasn't a realistic choice) would've done that. Warren would've done that. Biden would've done that, even if he made 0 campaign appearances and spent all his time in his basement like he's doing this year.

That isn't what Tim Kaine does. He mops the floor at your kid's school. You say hi, he looks up and smiles, and that's that.

It's also the job of a skilled politician to realize they're unappetizing.

You'd think 25 years of horrid shit being said about you by the likes of Rush Limbaugh would have driven that point home. If that didn't do it, maybe it's the fact that she was run, the fuck, over by a barely known black guy with a first name that rhymed with Osama seven years after 9-11. She needed to outwork whoever her opponent was; be it Donald Trump or Jeb! or the guy delivering chairs for Amazon. We can debate all day the sexism of that another day, but the bottom line is when there's overwhelming evidence that you're not a very well-liked person you need to try harder to make yourself likable to the masses. Blowing off the Rust Belt won't do that. Howard Stern practically begged her staff to get her on his show -- they weren't interested. At a time when many progressives were looking for a sign that you gave even an ounce of a fuck about their interests you picked....Tim Caine...and you announced it late on a Friday because you KNEW the left side wasn't going to go apeshit.

And blaming Comey is like shitty college football fan blaming the refs. The margin should have never been that close against a loudmouth know-nothing like Trump to begin with.

Bernie would have scared off a non-zero percentage of old guard establishment Dems.

And Obama was not "barely known." His speech at the 2004 convention electrified the joint.
