We all thought Trump's MAGA referred to the "mythical" '50s - now we know he thought 1968 was when America was "great."

Well, that is when Nixon won. The President whose rank corruption Trump sought to exceed. (He succeeded, of course.) Also the man under whom the race-baiting "Southern Strategy" took flight.

The longer clip is even stronger in context ...

We've got the bubonic plague, the great depression and 1960s race riots all at once.

If only we had built a wall and made Mexicans pay for it.

Yeah, but at least there's a sale at Penney's . . . er, never mind.

Wouldn't Putin's puppet congratulate Merkel for making such a wonderful energy deal instead of trying to sabotage it at every turn?

One of my former players is going to graduate school in Atlanta, so I checked in with him last night. He hates trump as much as most of us do.
But he said something that makes a lot of sense. β€œβ€it's at the point where we can talk about it but it doesn't matter until Republicans start to care β€œ

During the Detroit newspaper strike, we were picketing at the old downtown Free Press printing plant and the cops started feeling their power and pushed us around
We told them we were union members just like them
Then we started chanting LAPD at them
    THAT pissed them off
    Cops are NOT your friends
They are trained not to trust you

The time has come to take an honest look at crisis management in our country. Never before have so many resources been used so ineffectively as in the Trump administration's response to the pandemic. If after all this time and all this sacrifice and all this death there is still no end in sight, then I say the time has come for the American people to turn to new leadership, not tied to the racism, graft and negligence of the recent past.
