Brown whacks 11 sports, many of which are totally niche deals like squash, skiing, fencing and equestrian.
The most amazing thing is that the execution of 11 teams drops Brown's total to 27.
Brown University will cut 11 of its varsity sports

Updated count: 33 teams cut. Of them, 22 are men's and 11 are women's teams.

The fans at UAH have been told that they can keep their hockey team if they can raise $500k by Friday. If any of you are able and so minded, anything would be of help.

Re a C-USA/Sun Belt merger, this sort of thing is why I find it unlikely.

Translation: "Wouldn't want to be you, suckers." Practically thumbing his nose at the Sun Belt.

More like at ULaLa, but yeah. C-USA took the teams it wanted from the Belt several years back.

This is cash in the door, right? It's gifts rather than pledges? The program will be saved. I suspect the announcement of its demise was planned with a $100K gift or commitment in hand to jump-start the GoFundMe and inspire others.

I have no idea. I'm not an insider on this effort. I'm boosting the signal and gave a little money is all. We'll see by 5 this afternoon, although I think a lot of people who see that it is this close will give today.
