    The shitty apology is popular in part because we demand apologies from people who aren’t ready to apologize and, further, aren’t good writers.

    Most people aren’t so deep and self aware that they can always see how they got to the moment of their shitty behavior. That takes time and reflection that today’s culture generally doesn’t allow.

    Disagree. Amends are a separate thing. Sometimes - in the case of some affairs - there is no making amends.
