Interesting that nothing has come out about the financial distributions of this for players, vs. the war brewing in MLB with the constant leaks and bitching and moaning.

I think the difference is that NHL players got at least 83 percent of their salaries....right now MLB players have no clue what percentage they are going to get.

This actually seems like a pretty solid, reasonable plan.

I'll be interested to see how they schedule it, especially at only two sites. Back-to-backs? Every other day since there's no travel? Day games during the week? First round will take a while, but best-of-five helps things.

They could do two games per day per site and alternate series.

Series A and B are Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Series C and D Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, etc.

With no fans and a lot of people still home, day games shouldn't matter.

They can play 1, 4, 7 and 10 EDT if there are sites in the east and west.

Yes. Especially with the round robin seeding tournament for the top seeds that will need to be played (six games). Also, do these sites have extra rinks for practices? Shared locker rooms? I'm quite certain this is not easy to sort out. Same with the NBA.

Day games would matter for TV viewership, no?

A lot depends on the sites they choose.

The NBA's plan is actually as good as can be given the circumstances. The Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney in Orlando has a little arena for the games, and everything is pretty self contained there. They can put the teams up in resort hotels that they have there to keep everything as controlled as possible.

Some of them have practice rinks right near the main one. Others don't have them some distance away. Pretty much every arena has multiple locker rooms, or at least areas that could be transformed into locker rooms. Enough to fit right teams? No. But four for each day, with a sanitization process at the end? Sure.

Why does the draft lottery include playoff teams?
It should only consist of the not so magnificent seven
    Not that it matters
I’m resigned to the Red Wings getting the fourth pick

Because they aren’t playoff teams. The playoff teams are the final 16.
