A pandemic can only sideline sports for so long, and when high school and junior college athletes take the field again, the Powell Tribune wants to be ready to cover the action. The Tribune, located in northwestern Wyoming, is seeking a sports writer to join its team.

We’re looking for a candidate with strong writing and reporting skills and a passion for telling sports stories on a local level. Sports would be the primary focus of this position. An ambitious candidate who can also contribute to the general news and photography gathering for the newspaper would be a plus.

Located not far from Yellowstone National Park, the Tribune is a locally owned, twice-weekly newspaper known for its quality journalism.

The successful candidate will have a chance to make a real impact, building relationships and covering events and accomplishments.

The Tribune offers a competitive compensation package plus health and retirement benefits.

If you’re interested, please send your resume and clippings to General Manager Toby Bonner at toby@powelltribune.com.

A stringer for the paper I worked at told me about 20 years ago there was a school in Wyoming that had this massive dome they played all sports in, including football. Does that really exist?

Round Valley Ensphere is a wooden-dome stadium in Eagar, AZ, and is the only domed high school football stadium in the United States. It is also home to the basketball and volleyball teams. I'd imagine wrestling as well.

Help Round Valley's dome advance in America's Best High School Football Stadiums contest

That could be any school in the Big Sky Conference
