Junkie, the one family-0wned paper I worked for treated me like gold. Experience varies, I suppose, but I always felt safe with that company.

I don’t know that anyone at any of my stops was treated badly prior to being jettisoned. What is your old place doing now?

Maven/SI has been a complete disaster with web traffic "cratering" even before pandemic, I'm told, as advertisers flee management that can't help but step in shit again and again.

All in all, Maven has got to be the stupidest name for a media brand. Ever.

Good. I'm not shedding any tears if these team-specific, pandering, pseudo journalists are soon unemployed.

I know someone who was hired by the new Maven/SI team sites thing. I guess they have a story quota to fill (not sure if each week or month) but Maven hasn't changed it during the pandemic/quarantine. There's no sports going on and these folks have to come up with ideas and write the same number of stories just like normal.

Do these story quotas involve regular stories or those massive pieces they write? I wonder if they are reasonable with their assignments: Like three massive stories per month? That wouldn't be too hard if those stories are your main interest in journalism.
