    I discovered a used paperback copy of "True Grit" many, many years after the original film version and having watched that several times.

    The book was very good, as I recall. In it, I discovered Mattie Ross ended up losing her injured arm. In addition, the Glen Campbell character lived as opposed to dying in the John Wayne film. At least that's the way I remember it.
