Two guys who had an afternoon drive time sports show here in Indy were let go. There are folks here better versed in the radio biz than me, but I thought iHeartRadio had an uphill climb from the day it launched and it hasn't gained any ground. Mass layoffs certainly don't suggest otherwise.

Will local programming be maintained or will the station move to syndicated programming?

From what I've read, it will be syndicated. Some DJ in, say, Dallas will spend all day just recording bumpers and intros and outros and a producer will drop them in between songs in stations around the country.

Isn't iHeart a renamed Clear Channel?

    It’s been a bloodbath.

Lots of friends and acquaintances affected but this is where radio is now.

Where newspapers were at a decade ago.

Where TV news will be in a decade.

Yup. I think they changed the name after their trip to Chapter 11.

Ah.....the advantages of being locally owned.
Our PD had a couple of his good friends get it.

On this particular station it appears to be all syndicated (Fox Sports).

As with many markets, we have an abundance of iheart channels that sound just like every other iheart channel in the world. I know some of the jocks laid off. I liked them, but they were so neutered.

At least the entercom channels allow their jocks to sound like they are local. We also have a small independent that is “fantastic.” I put that quotes because I love it, but I don’t think have great ratings but their jocks are all old pros who can hit spots, talk local and play oddities and rarities. I enjoy them because I appreciate the craft.
