The nationally recognized McAlester News-Capital is seeking an enthusiastic Sports Editor.

This candidate must be able to skillfully manage coverage of multiple sports, write accurate and clean content for quick digital distribution, be efficient with online publishing tools and social media, design pages on deadline, and more.

Preferred candidates will have a degree in journalism, communications or related field, or equivalent experience. Candidates must possess the ability to work quickly and accurately with a Web-based content management system. Candidates must be skilled in writing more than just a gamer.

We're seeking a team player — someone who is self-driven, self-motivated and aggressively pursues meaningful stories. We offer competitive pay and benefits. We also pride ourselves in growing people looking to hone their skills and add to their journalist toolbox.

The MN-C is in McAlester, which is considered the hub of southeast Oklahoma and located just a few hours from Dallas, Fort Smith, Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

Interested candidates can email resume, cover letter and 3-5 writing samples to News Editor Adrian O'Hanlon III at aohanlon@mcalesternews.com.

I'll vouch that the guy you will report to will let you do your thing -- he is from a sports background.
