Journalists are supposed to be skeptics, to look askance at things.

Why does all that leave the building the minute the politics feel good? How'd that happen? Why?

I'm going to say something really, really controversial.... but Johnson should've been removed from office, Not for kicking Edwin Stanton out the door but for throttling Reconstruction.

Who knows if it ever would've worked but except for, say... death camps.... the end result couldn't have been worse.

McConnell Rejects Calling Mulvaney or Bolton for Trump’s Impeachment Trial

Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader, on Tuesday rejected demands by Democrats to call four White House officials as witnesses during President Trump’s impeachment trial in the Senate.

On the eve of a House vote on Wednesday that is all but certain to result in Mr. Trump’s impeachment on two charges, Mr. McConnell said he would not agree to call the witnesses — all of whom have firsthand knowledge of Mr. Trump’s dealings with Ukraine — including Mick Mulvaney, the White House chief of staff, and John R. Bolton, the former national security adviser. The White House blocked them from appearing during the House impeachment inquiry.

I was considered a dangerous rabble-rouser in sixth grade history class in 1969-70 for saying the Radical Republicans were right; that Johnson was obviously guilty of the charges as brought.

And also for proposing that if Lincoln had lived, and seen the same rising of the KKK in 1866-68 as happened in real life, he'd certainly have sent Sherman or Grant storming back through the South with orders to finish the job right this time -- BAMN.

Yet she's specific in mentioning a policy target here - Climate activist Thunberg urges EU to double carbon reduction targets

She's talking about a global issue. How each country and each individual responds to the issue will be different. The important thing is that everyone needs to pitch in. That's her approach - that every country has this startling data sitting in front of them and has done too little. Heavy manufacturing countries can enact policies to reduce emissions and penalize polluters more harshly.

Other countries may need to investigate how they change agricultural production. Individuals should be aware of carbon offsetting. Certain cities should invest in public transportation improvements.

The reason she's not mentioning extremely specific policies is because the policy fixes number in the hundreds and are unique on a city by city, state by state, country by country. So her message - which has never changed - is that it's past time to put pressure on those in charge to finally do something in your city and country. And if they won't, elect people who will.

This isn't about being a good journalist and being skeptical of her. She's an activist. She's going to find ways to get the message out, from protests to speeches to, yes, documentaries.

She's genuine and sincere, which is more than I can say of your continued contrarian approach on this thread.
