RIP Marie Fredriksson

Lead singer of Roxette. Apparently, she battled cancer for 17 years.

 

Now in an argument with my assignment editor over this.

He loves Cheap Trick. They're in the HOF.

I love Eddie Money. He's not.

Cheap Trick has four songs we still hear on the radio quite a bit. Eddie Money has six, maybe seven songs.

Now we're arguing over Roxette. He says "no". I say "yes", based off the songs you still hear:

Listen To Your Heart
It Must Have Been Love
Joyride

That's five.

This doesn't count Dressed For Success nor Fading Like a F lower

Cheap Trick has more than two songs? I cannot imagine that anything beyond the two I know are very good.

 

My first girlfriend dumped me to that song.

I'm trying to think of the fourth Cheap Trick song you hear on the radio regularly. Assuming the first three are "I want you to want me", "The Flame" and "Surrender".

 

Dream Police

 

I gave it a hybrid of Dream Police/Don't Be Cruel as the fourth.

There was a month, in 1988, when Don't Be Cruel was on all the time but I couldn't tell you the last time I heard it on radio. Dream Police, occasionally, I'll come across on Sirius.

 

Mike Damone in Fast Times is always plugging them.
