    JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - Sports Reporter

For the first time in close to 15 years, we have an opening for a full-time sports reporter at The Post Bulletin in Rochester, Minn. Application information, and a job description are available in the link above.

A little bit about us: We're a four-person sports department (or, we will be once we make a hire). We are hiring a full-time sports reporter to replace a departed part-time reporter. The three of us who are currently in the sports department have all been here for at least 15 years, so we're excited to add a fresh face to the department and to the newsroom.

Our paper was purchased by Forum Communications back in May; it has been a great company to work for. It has allowed us to add two other positions to the newsroom, and we also currently have an opening for a news/features reporter.

As for our sports staff, we almost exclusively cover high school sports in southeastern Minnesota, though we have two junior hockey teams in the area and a Northwoods League baseball team to cover in the summer. Forum News Service has Minneapolis-based reporters who cover the Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota hockey, as well as occasionally covering other pro and college sports in the Twin Cities. All of our pages are paginated at Forum's design hubs, so the person who fills this position will not be required to do layout.

We’ve filled this one. We’re excited that Isaac Trotter, the lead University of Illinois football reporter for IlliniInquirer.com, will join us beginning in January. There are a lot of talented young reporters who applied and we feel fortunate to add Isaac to our staff.
