Have you considered The Houston Chronicle? They're hiring people.

Three weeks ago, I completed two hour-plus interviews for a position outside of journalism. I was the second choice, supposedly. This would have been my last weekend in the business. Next week I will face a 1-in-10 chance of being summoned to the publisher's office.

At least for my former shop, you could tell because there were suddenly a lot more management people from the bigger paper suddenly meeting at our paper for a couple days, randomly. Doesn't take a lot of work to connect the dots.

The EE in Westchester, N.Y., announced a couple of weeks back she was leaving to become the director of journalism at a radio station in the KC area, and the EE in Jackson, Miss., resigned about the same time, with no next move specified.

Feels like there is an absolute bloodbath coming.

Yeah, if the upper management in the newsrooms are leaving, they know what's coming. And they probably knew they had a good chance of being on the list.
