The Dow rose from 8,000 to 12,045 between Obama’s inauguration and the November before the 2012 election. It rose from 19,865 to 27,777 between Trump’s inauguration and now. That means it rose 50.5 percent in Obama’s first 35 months, compared with 39.8 percent in Trump’s first 35 months. The numbers are virtually the same if you time it from the date of the election.

    What am I missing?

Unlike the sour libertards on here, I'm very happy for you -- whether it was our president or your union for whom you credit for your financial success! Congratulations!

You are missing that the Dow was at 16,100 when Trump was elected in November. There was an immediate positive effect. You're giving Obama credit for that. Everyone knows the market after a presidential election reflects what business insiders believe will happen with the newly elected president. Happens almost every election. From Nov. of 2017 when elected to now, the Dow Jones has risen from 16,100 to 27,740.

18,589 the first day of trading after election day.

19,804 the day he actually took office.

The gains aren't quite what you make them out to be.

Well I'm still up 85% or 96.2%, depending which way you want to look at it.

What you guys don't seem to understand is that I'm not in a Blue Chips fund. I'm in an aggressive growth fund and have been for over 3 years now. Aggressive growth will reflect MORE than the 60 percent or so the Blue Chip stock are up over the same time period.
