My now 11 year old just got fatter and fatter as a baby. 32 pounds at a year. His neck folds had neck folds.

    Baby Food and Sugar

"The World Health Organization says a majority of baby foods they studied derived 30 percent of their calories from sugars."

    Oy.

    Exactly.

It's so easy to make your own baby food. It's a shame more young parents don't do it.

In fact, it's supremely easy to feed kids a great diet. You just have to commit to doing so.

And it makes a huge difference in their health and behavior. Huge.

    You get paid?!
Hell, I thought it was like those Cutco jobs, where you pay in and never see monetary benefits. But you learn a lot of what NOT to do!

Like anything really, the question is do you go for convenience or do you hold the line?

I was a dictator about sleep times, in the summer it would be still sun shining at 7:30 but I said “ bedtime” ( until they were about 12-13) and they’d say “Ah Dad...”. Sure I wanted to give in but I felt that consistency was huge and I wanted alone time w mom too. It paid off, my boys have always had good sleep habits, even now when they’re in college.
Food is the same to me. Serve good healthy stuff, and they learn to do so.

I should have read this thread when our daughter was born. Great stuff. 2 y.o. now and a little afraid we’re off to Urgent Care this morning.

She must have twisted her knee while in a bouncy castle at a pumpkin patch yesterday. We didn’t realize she was hurt for a few hours, just thought she was really shook up by a near miss from a big kid. Finally it was obvious she was having trouble walking. She was up again by the end of the night but really struggled to put weight on one leg. You can lay her down and move her legs all around and she doesn’t seem to feel any pain, but could barely stand up.

Still asleep at the moment. Really hoping she’s mobile today. Happy to get her help if she needs it, but hoping she doesn’t.

    Hope she's fine.

Any swelling? Any pain when you touch the knee?

Crap! It's been 3 years since we've updated this?! How's the kiddos?
Spike Jr. is 10 (tears streaming re-reading this page BTW) in 4th grade and just finished being the lead in his first musical (Jungle Book) also is huge into coding for games. Creates his own Roblox and Minecraft games/add-ons, is a Webelo in Cub Scouts, plays soccer and *gulp* likes girls and isn't afraid to ask us (well, mostly my wife): "What is porn?" "What is anal?" "Why does my penis get hard?" (He has a friend that has a sister in 9th grade ... so he has learned WAAAAY tooo much recently)
Here he is getting to throw out a 1st pitch at a Toledo Mud Hens game this summer:
