More mass murder/wars have been in the name of religion than any other reason. The combination of Islam and Christianity have been particularly lethal.

I saw a recent Internet meme which indicated that we’re supposed to believe that Noah built a ship the size of an aircraft carrier by himself (or maybe with his family), using nothing but the rudimentary tools of that time and with wood. Oh, and coincidentally, two of every animal just happened to be within walking distance of Noah’s big boat.

Then again, Noah did get drunk and lay uncovered in his tent, so that part is quite realistic.

And that's one of the more believable bullshit tales, what with a book full of stories about talking snakes and virgins giving birth.

What has progressed more in the last 500 years? Mankind's understanding of god or mankind's understanding of the universe, i.e. its creation and the fundamental principles of matter?

The reformation started in 1517, so probably mankind's understanding of God.

Yeah, the splintering of Christianity and the increase in atheism are sure signs we are on our way to hashing out this god thing.

A big deal showing that people don't have an understanding of god.

    Interesting. What does that entail?

    That’s god’s fault.

Yeah, you would think he would have all the different groups make up the same story about him at least.
