Hornsby never had more than 17 stolen bases in a season.

Bobby Bonds is correct. He went 39-43 in 1973, with a home run negated by a rainout in an early-season game against the Braves. He also had one robbed by an over-the-wall catch in the next game. Wound up hitting No. 38 on Sept. 8 and then didn't homer again until the last game of the season on Sept. 30.

Hank Aaron had a 30-30 season in 1963, 44 HRs, 31 steals. Not sure if he was the first but there could not have been many before than. Aaron stole 15 or more bases every season from 1960-68, he could run.

Mantle could have easily done that in the 1950s, before his legs went totally tits-up, but the Yankees didn't run.

The first 30-30 guy was way before Hank Aaron, although one of Aaron's contemporaries (Willie Mays) was the first to do it since this guy.

Since 1961 - 13 AP NFL MVPs won the award playing for a team that wasn't the team they were originally drafted by. Name them.

Was thinking Hornsby only because he was a middle infielder and could imagine some manager making him try to steal 30 bases because “that’s what middle infielders do.”
