A centrist didn't in 2016. And it's not about who voted for Trump. It's about who didn't show up to vote for Hillary, who received five million fewer votes than Obama in 2008. It's about getting those people to show up again.

Do you think a centrist will inspire Democrats to vote?

I don't care about inspiration. I just want sane, competent leadership.

Some of those Obama voters flipped to Trump.

But the point is well-taken, that some Obama voters chose not to vote for Hillary for various reasons, one of them being her husband's 1994 Crime Bill and stuff she said about "superpredators" 25 years ago. That'd seem to hurt someone like Biden, no question. (It's not Biden's only weakness, either.)

And I think voters could absolutely embrace further left positions on health care and wage inequality. Gun control, too.

But I think about AOC's "garbage" comment - the way she intended it, not the way it's been twisted - and want to ask, "OK, so what percent from garbage is acceptable?" 40 percent? 50 percent? Is it 92 percent?

Interesting/sad theory (probably not new but floated to me today): Trump dumps Pence and runs again with Ivanky as his VP. He wins. He resigns so she can go down in history as the first female president. She gives him a blanket pardon.

    Nah.

You know damn well that whoever the next president is, if he's still alive when (or if) he leaves office, his final action, at 11:59:45 Inauguration Day, will be to
    issue himself (and himself only):

"A full unconditional and unlimited pardon for any violation or violations of federal laws he may ever have committed or participated in, in his life."

A final dick-wave to the libs. He won't hand it off to Pence or Ivanky or anybody else.

He'll do it even if -- in fact, probably especially if -- he's impeached and removed.

He'll issue mass blanket pardons for all his underlings and flunkies too, along with his hellspawn family, but those will be written, notarized and dated earlier in the morning, only unsealed after he's done.

But the chocolate cherry on top will be the big one: pardoning himself for anything and everything he's ever done, so he can never face any federal charges for anything.

Simple enough to have him arrested on NY State charges, bail denied and let him rot in Rikers awaiting trial.

Undoubtedly, before leaving office, he'll already have arranged to fly to some friendly nation which will refuse to honor extradition demands from U. S. states, and has already promised to "take care of him."

Sadly for him, in due time Fuckboy will find out they may have very different ideas what it means to "take care" of people.
