    The answer to the Yankees question was Rick Cerone. He of course replaced Thurman Munson, who had died the previous August.

    I don't know how you can justify giving him a first-place vote among this crowd.

    No. He had a great year with the Philadelphia A's in 1954 but the Cy Young Award wasn't started until 1956.

    Ah, I got him and Shantz confused. I remembered there was a pretty good but not Hall-of-Fame caliber pitcher who had a career year sometime in the late '50s.
