What can you say? Prayers. And sadness. And anger.

Two were laid off at the paper I am familiar with and two fairly high ranking vacant positions (both newsroom editorial) were eliminated at the same time. One of the two working at the time was the IT guy.

Rather than yearly, GateHouse tends to lay off in 10 1/2-month cycles. So get your resume brushed up by March 15 next year.

One in Asheboro. Had a two-man staff. Now there's one.

Some of those Gatehouse papers are shredded to almost nothing.

One of the layoffs in Stockton: 34-year veteran Lori Gilbert, who transferred from sports to features about 10 years ago.

So over 150 and counting nationwide.

Meanwhile, that jackass Gatehouse exec told Business Insider that these "immaterial" cuts were low and that an estimate near 200 was "bullshit".

    Fuck outta here.

He’s not any old “jackass Gatehouse exec,” he’s the fucking CEO.

The last Gatehouse layoff sweep was February 1 this year.

Sounds like those layoffs were more targeted and not general. So I'll hold to my timeline.

Has Gatehouse grabbed the lead in "worst company?" Or is it Gannett, followed by Gatehouse, Digital First and McClutchen in a close tie for third?
