I guess the discovery process wasn't going all that well for the league.

Pretty obvious every owner in the league colluded.

What's most interesting about the settlement though, as Michael points out, is that there must have been some damning evidence of it.

Lots of hurrrrrrr he did it all for money durrrrrrr he's a fraud from those from whom you'd expect such things.

FWIW, Benjamin Allbright is adamant that the $20M ask of the AAF is nonsense. Says the league reached out to Kaepernick and Tebow and that money was never discussed.

Discovery would have been fun, as would the looks on juror's faces watching game film of Nathan Peterman, Mark Sanchez and Josh Johnson.

The old saying goes that the most popular player on any team is the backup quarterback, because he doesn't play and therefore can be seen as perfect. In a sense, Kaepernick became the backup QB for the whole NFL.

    There's a wide gulf between 60 dollars and 80 million dollars. /copy_editor

Yeah, I dunno. If it wasn't, I imagine Kaepernick would have wanted to keep going, yeah? Why not make $150 million if he can?

Maybe he wants back in the NFL.

Alex Gordon has had the same level of on-field productivity for his $80M since 2016 as Kaep. He should have kneeled instead of hitting .215 or whatever.

The league took Tom Brady to the Court of Appeals for stupid Deflategate. Here's a much more primal challenge and they settle? Settle one week before the first arbitration hearing? That's not like them at all, unless they were pretty certain they were going to lose. We don't know how big the settlement was. It might be so large Kaep's attorneys said, "you won't get so much more at trial as to make it worth the risk of losing."

Maybe. I figured he and his camp wanted to prove collusion. If it was there to prove, and the truth was most important, what possible settlement amount could be worth all that?

If Kaepernick's first NFL pass were an interception, none of this would have happened.
