Where did Robert E. Lee stay? (Seriously).

I’ve never studied the siege of Richmond and Petersburg in great detail, so I’m wondering where their HQ was.

    Guess I’ll go googling.

During the siege of Petersburg, Lee's HQ was in present-day Henrico County, just east of the James, about where it bends to the east after flowing straight south out of Richmond. Near Chaffin's Bluff, about 3-4 miles east (and on the east side of the James) from Drewry's Bluff.

Strange location, because he had to cross the James and the Appomattox rivers to reach the southern part of his defensive line, which stretched south and east of the Appomattox below Petersburg.

How many people in the North have alibis? That shall answer the question.

Used to ski in Vermont quite a bit and my buddies and I had a saying. “She’s Vermont hot,” meaning she’s attractive relative to the overall mediocrity of the female pool up there. I’m guessing the ladies referred to dudes in the same way.
