    The Richard Ben Cramer biography (which was published shortly after DiMaggio died but reported on/written largely while he was still alive), is excellent as well. An amazing job of reporting, seeing as how DiMaggio was famous for cutting off anyone in his circle who talked about him on the record.

    Yes, that's a very good read about DiMaggio.

    Regarding this thread, I believe Hemingway references Joe D. several times in "The Old Man and the Sea."
