The plate ump was Eric Cooper. He was equally bad for both teams. Astros starter Charlie Morton had five walks in 4.0 innings; Ohtani 5 in 5-1/3.
I noted that from watching the game without the need to seek out analytics.

Mariners/White Sox fans not ready for the start of their game today. No one's there.

They suck. They announced they were going to suck for a while. No one is going to go to an afternoon game in 40 degree weather in April to see a team that voluntarily sucks.

Another one of those stats that lack context. Back in Ruth's time, they didn't even begin the season until halfway through the month, so a lot of players didn't get a chance to pile up April stats.

On the other side, King Felix doesn't have a lot left either.

Been meaning to ask this for a while now...

When Ohtani is pitching, and Nagy makes a visit to the mound, he's accompanied by Ohtani's shaggy-haired consiglieri. Is that a new development? I've never noticed translators coming to the mound before.

I don't think so. I remember Darvish having a translator for a time.

If I'm ever in the same room as Tom Ley, I'm punching him in the face as hard as I can. What a shithead.

This is the kind of Deadspin "piece" I hate. Guy hasn't reported a story in his life. Guy has also never met Trevor Bauer, who pretty obviously is on the autism spectrum. Guy shits all over reporter and Bauer.

    Guy needs to get punched.

    Five-inning Jake strik.... never mind.
