Can't get the song out of my head after posting about his band in the other thread.

This is the closing cut on John Prine's new record, his first in years. It's all classic Prine. Good stuff.

I rarely open this thread, and when I do, I hardly ever even know the artist. Can’t remember the last time I clicked a link to hear the song.

I’ve heard of Lyle Lovett. And I could only see “Lyle Lovett and His Large Ba” and, I swear my mind went to “banana.” Didn’t seem right, so I clicked it. (Also, I am bored out of my mind.)

So glad I did. Thank you for posting. I loved it, and now want cornbread.

Lyle's very talented, and he's something of an odd duck. At heart he's a Texas singer-s0ngwriter, but the large band project taps into the Bob Wills tradition. It's not a true Texas swing band, leans more to blues/jazz/gospel/swing, but it has some of the same sensibility. He's well worth a listen, solo or with the Large Band.

This taps into the same vein as "Church".
