Advance buyouts

    Don't know if they are doing it at other newspapers, but Advance is doing this at The Plain Dealer. I'm hearing they are offering a year's pay as severance:




    The guild's contract runs out sometime in the next year or so. It will get ugly then.

    it says a lot that they only need 15 years to reach their "number."

    Would be interesting to know how many Cleveland.com staffers are actually Guild members. I know a couple of people who moved over to the Cleveland.com side from the PD who gave up Guild membership as part of the switch.

    This apparently is chainwide. I know of at least three people who took the buyout at my old shop.
