They also have to pay back NCAA Tournament shares. Since it's all about money anyway, I guess that's something.

I'll always think of Russ Smith first when I think of that team.

    These days ...

Russ Anton Smith is an American professional basketball player for Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association.

    From another story ...

Former Louisville basketball star Russ Smith is having quite the summer in China.

In five games with Luoyang in the second-tier National Basketball League, the 6-foot Smith is averaging 61 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 3.6 assists.

Russ Smith is posting some crazy numbers in China's second-tier pro league

All this does is confirm Louisville's not a real blue blood. Kentucky will never get a title vacated. UNC will never get a title vacated. Duke will never get a title vacated. UCLA will never get a title vacated, but they're never gonna win another one so it's a moot point. Louisville? Sure, you gotta really fuck up, but they'll get a title vacated.

Here's the interesting thing there. AP story today says some published reports have estimated that total at $15 million. The Louisville AD or interim AD or whatever he is says the total will be less than $1 million. That's quite a discrepancy.

He can't even turn that into a homage to his long-lasting love-making with a floozy.

Instead of vacating a title, how about giving a school the death penalty? The NCAA won't do that because it's money out of its pocket, but vacating is pretty absurd.

If all that happens is they take away a banner, make schools repay a few million and erase their record for that season, most programs would say the financial windfall was worth it.
