Putting the pieces together, they got swept at Southern Miss last weekend but he won 40 games and made the super regional last year and it's the first week of baseball season. Three losses is not a big deal. So it wasn't for poor performance or anything on the field.
And it seems like it was sudden. Things like players claiming verbal or physical abuse, and even sex scandals usually ramp up over time, right? They build a case and rumors leak out over days or weeks. Same with recruiting misdeeds.
So maybe he hit a player with plenty of witnesses? Clear-cut, don't do this, you're gone type stuff?

And here I thought he called for a letter-high heater on an 0-2 count.

 

Bet this is a Hugh Freeze/Mike Price type of situation.

Also a good possibility, especially given the track record of these things. And I'm sure that's the first place most people will go, even if it's just speculation at this point.
Just thinking along the lines of the suddenness and timing of this that it could have been a singular definitive act rather than an ongoing affair.

 

That's an extraordinarily interesting search.

Especially since she is a former athletic department employee who appears to have found a new job at the University of Florida, which I believe hired a coach in some revenue sport away from MSU not long ago.
