Zombie is an annoying ass song and I never understood its popularity. But Linger and Dreams are great tunes.

Zombie and its opening guitar line are right in line with the shoegazing post-grunge of the early ā€˜90s. You know, right in all our wheelhouses.

Zombie wast most likely about the "troubles" in Northern Ireland and how people couldn't let it go and find peace. Hence the zombies of the past coming back to influence the present.

Strikes me as odd that a thread on Dolores O'Riordan's death would be getting so much more attention on a sports journalists message board than Dan Gurney's death.

I suppose that speaks to our demographics though.

Just wait until Jeff Gordon kicks it the same weekend as D.J. Rhino Cockz.

You are correct, of course, but without the backstory provided by the band the lyrics seem to describe PTSD. Having toured some of theWWI battlefields of France, the 1916 reference led me in that direction.

Wait until Dolores Hart ("Where the Boys Are") dies around the same time as someone the age of Dan Gurney. Demographics will be even.

Iā€™m no spring chicken myself, and I would have told you Dan Gurney invented the wheeled hospital stretcher if asked.
