    It's so funny to me that people think this "narrative" stuff made a difference in that election, as opposed to the most effective GOTV operation politics had seen up to that point. Romney was toast all along, and the limp dick 1st debate performance by President Obama only made it mildly interesting for pundits who didn't understand the actual math, and didn't ever try to learn (and now feel validated in that ignorance by Trump's election).

    But, indeed, the convention narratives absolutely follow a script.

    Just back to Romney for a second:

    People forget how poorly Mr. CEO's campaign was run. His GOTV operation was so bad, he had zero chance in almost every swing state.
