Carmelo to Oklahoma City for Enes Kanter and Doug McDermott.

Knicks really wanted him out of there.

Melo to the Thunder for scraps. They picked up him and George this offseason for basically nothing and might have a shot at stretching the Warriors to, what, six games?

I’m pretty sure the Knicks can fail to make the playoffs without him for the next 4years as they have with him for the last 4 years

What a strange team the Thunder are going to be.

The only way Melo is going to score 20 ppg is if he learns to defend Westbrook

So the Knicks could get no more for Carmelo than McDermott and Kanter? Jeez.

Got to give Presti credit, OKC nabbed both Paul George and Carmelo for totally bargain basement prices.

they get to keep $54,000,000.00 in the next 2years. And the Knicks will not be much worse in the standings

It was an amicable divorce, as these things go. Had to happen for both parties, so arguing about the price is kind of pointless.

No, they don't. They get to pay most of it to Enes Kanter, one of the worst defensive players I've ever seen.

It looks to me like the Knicks probably save $10 million in 2018/2019 by making this deal. In the short term, the team is worse off. Obviously they think it's worth it, but there's very little positive here for the Knicks.

I don't know how the top three will shake out, but their No. 4 scorer will average 3.0 ppg.

Yup. Didn’t even think Kanter was making more than minimum wage. Maybe they want more ping pong balls

They did their best to kill his trade value and their bargaining position for years. Not that Carmelo seems like the greatest guy in the world in all of this, but once the league knows you're trying to move a player, something like the Irving trade is the rarity vs. Carmelo, Boogie, Paul George, Jimmy Butler trades.
