Why does Manny Machado suck now?

Too early to sweat it; remember in the mid 2000s when it looked like Jeter was done because he was under the Mendoza line in late May/early June? IIRC he finished over .300. (I never doubted him again.)

 

Line today is pretty good.

Machado ranks 74th on the xwOBA leaderboard, which probably largely attributable to his league average launch angle. He's hitting it hard (average exit velo of 94 mph), but low, with a launch angle of about 12 degrees.

 

That's what I'm looking for. Where do you find the leaderboard?

Machado on fire this month. No need to fear. Yanks, Sox, Angels and Dodgers will still be happy to pay him $30,000,000/year. He'll be an ex-Oriole this time next year.

 

Fucking moronic franchise should have traded him.

 

Watched briefly yesterday. At one point Machado he tried to score from third on a grounder to short. Simmons trapped him and he didn't stay in the rundown long enough to allow the runner on first (Schoop, I think) to get to third. When Machado walked off the field he was looking at Schoop and gesturing, like, why aren't you on third? A little while later on defense, a routine grounder went under his glove and into the outfield. Looked like he didn't care.
