No 14er for us. Mrs. Whitman won't do it.

Huh. Too bad. I've never done Sneffels, but it has a reputation as being one of the easier ones, along with Grays and Torreys (usually knock both of those off in one day) as well as Bierstadt (I've done that one twice).

Sneffels isn't particularly long by 14er standards and almost every climb is safe, especially with a guide. Oh well. Her loss. Enjoy Colorado.

Thanks. She's just not having it. Says she wants to enjoy herself out there, "not defy death." She just kept looking up pictures and descriptions and kept calling me ("Um ... it says we need a helmet and harness") with the latest alarming find.

Just wasn't worth trying to convince her anymore.

You clearly know her better than I do and when to push. Probably best so as to make the rest of the trip enjoyable.

Hiked to 12,000 feet today. Blue Lakes Trail in the Sneffels range. My God, my eyes have never seen such beauty.

What's the point of this post?

    Just being a jackass?

Seems as good a thread as any to bring this up:
Swiss Couple Missing For 75 Years Found Frozen On Glacier | HuffPost

Couple gone missing in WWII era found frozen in the Alps. One of the stories I read led me to Google "dead bodies Everest," and the stories of all the corpses fascinated me to no end. Green Boots disappeared mysteriously, and Sleeping Beauty eventually was removed and got a funeral.

    I read BBC's stuff:
Death in the clouds: The problem with Everest’s 200+ bodies
The tragic tale of Mt Everest’s most famous dead body

Familiar tale of tragedy as record numbers tackle Everest - BBC News

I did the same thing you did one day, went down the Everest corpse rabbit hole.
