What are people from your state called?

    I got back to that other thread too late apparently, but I found that part of it interesting. So let's talk (civilly) about Hoosiers, Sandlappers, etc. Somebody mentioned Kansas, but our nickname has nothing you do with sunflowers.

    The name "Michiganders" isn't too shabby for the rest of the state.

    Out west, we've got Idahoans, Oregonians and Washingtonians. Or if you can't read or speak, waRshingtonians ...

    Michiganians is better.

    There is no Michigander without a Michigoose.

    Abraham Lincoln actually preferred "Michiganites."

    Others go for "Michiganistas."

    Coonass is a term of endearment among south Louisianans that all but draws a record scratching sound effect when used in the other 49 states.

    Californians

    Clarify - spelled 'Californians' but pronounced 'Californans.'
    That is my long time state of residence.
    I am a native of New Jersey, and people there are called guidos.
