Mike Mathison, who spent more than 10 years as the sports editor of the Steubenville Herald Star in Ohio, is your winner!

Mathison is also formerly of Santa Maria Times in California.

Bucks a huge trend of hiring 20-something white guys. The job had been open since November, so little more than a five-month window for the E'town paper to be short staffed.

Interestingly, Mathison came from a paper where Patrick Meyers, formerly of the Elizabethtown paper, had gone to. Meyers' departure got things in motion for my full-time hiring in the early 2000s. Small world.
