Get rid of ethanol. That'll be a good start.

That's what Ricky Ricardo asked Fred Mertz on the "swingers" episode of "I Love Lucy."

    Who is Ethyl? A 6?

Is Ethyl another name for leaded gas? Are the engines for leaded gas cheaper to make than the unleaded ones? If so, and Trump has his way, leaded gas is coming back.

Ethyl was the name for premium leaded gas, back in the day. Leaded gas has been outlawed since 1996 - it was being phased out in the late 70s when I worked in gas stations.

Wish Boom and his Hummer were still around for this thread.

Great link. Thanks Starman. My uncle worked at the Bayway refinery in NJ.

I worked for seven years in gas stations -- as a manager / pump jockey / wrecker driver/ mechanic trainee in a full service station.

Unleaded gas was already taking over the market by that time, but we still sold leaded regular.

I wielded the window squeegee like a lightsaber.

Sometimes we'd stage duels in the driveway to entertain the customers.
