I think the most shocking part of Werder getting dropped is that it happens the day before the NFL Draft.

He'll probably be working for the NFL Network by noon.

Black Twitter joking about Shefter seeing what was coming and that's why he decided to do some NBA stuff leads to a question:
Are we about to see ESPN let go of one-sport employees? I'd think versatile reporters (like a Marty Smith) is a better keep than someone who solely covers NBA or MLB, no?
Still shocked they'd let go of an NFL guy on the eve of the draft.

Scott Burnside and Pierre LeBrun too.

I'm suddenly fearing for my friends at ESPN, most of them far behind the scenes.

All the major sports are year-round beats nowadays, but I'd have no doubt that most reporters could cross over if asked. Someone like Werder could sure as heck handle the sidelines of an NBA game.

    It just sucks.

Berman getting the ziggy would probably be the mother of all shocks.
