Good read on a long-running feud between John Thompson and former DeMatha High School coach Morgan Wootten that might still be having an effect on Georgetown's coaching situation.
Interesting note that while DeMatha has long been a D.C. powerhouse and Georgetown the same in college basketball, Thompson never recruited a single player from DeMatha.

Among others, Dereck Whittenburg and Sidney Lowe of 1983 NC State fame were DeMatha grads.

This is one of the first coaching cycles I can remember where pretty much every hire that has been announced has made sense.

And Danny Ferry and a host of other good players. You would think that a DI coach from a Catholic school in Washington,D.C. would be trying to form relationships with the local Catholic high schools and also in Prince George County - which is where most good local prospects come from- but that has not been the case. I can't think of any of their good NBA players who came from the D.C. area.

    Jerome Williams was from Rockville.

Reggie Williams and David Wingate were from Baltimore, if you count that.

Reggie Lewis was from Dunbar, too. I think the story was he didn't start in high school until his senior year.

Big John had success recruiting the DMV. Georgetown people were disappointed JTIII couldn't do the same.
