Our topnotch sports editor is moving on down his career path and we’re
looking for a hardworking journalist to fill his position. The person
we hire will be coordinating, producing content and paginating for our
daily newspaper and managing stringers and contributing to sports
reports for three small weekly papers we manage.

Applicants should be capable of reporting/writing well, taking photos,
paginating, posting, and managing sometimes challenging logistics. Our
market is primarily focused on prep sports, with a few extras. The
Appeal-Democrat is a daily located in Marysville, Calif. This would be
a challenging job and a solid career builder for the right person.

About 42 miles north of Sacramento (so if the Oroville Dam don't hold, you're potentially in the flood plain) and 2 1/2 hours to San Francisco. Sounds like the office is in Marysville, but you'll be covering Yuba City, just across the river, as well. In addition to preps, there's also a community college and a summer college wood bat team. The paper is name sponsor of the ballpark, so, think you may be spending some time there in the summer.

And of course, Lake Tahoe is just 15 minutes away.
