Baseball and the beach. The summer internship of a lifetime awaits a college sports journalism student looking to chronicle the lives of future Major League Baseball players at night and enjoy the sands of Cape Cod’s beaches during the day. The Cape Cod Times has a 10-week paid summer internship beginning mid-June. The emphasis is on sports reporting for print and online products, including writing, shooting video and using social media. The right candidate has a strong background in sports journalism in college. Cape Cod is home to the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League, a proving ground for future baseball stars, which is the focus of the reporting, though other sports assignments may be assigned as well. If you have the chops for beat writing and feature writing in a deadline atmosphere, and you’re looking to produce those eye-catching clips, this could be the place for you.

To apply, please submit the following:

--Cover letter explaining what you hope to get out of an internship

    --Resume

--Six samples (including one feature story, one game story, plus one clip you would put among all others)

    --Three references

Send application with subject line SPORTS INTERNSHIP to:

I can vouch for this gig. Paul and the crew are great. I know a few people who moved on to full-time spots after doing this internship, good launching spot. And plus, there are a lot worse places to be for the summer than covering the CCBL and being on the cape. If you have any questions, feel free to PM.
