13 wins in a row by the Mavs over the Lakers (a stat I didn't expect). That's disgraceful. Used to be the other way around and then some.

I love that Fat Lever is still in the top 10.

Utah Jazz have a new ownership structure. Gail Miller, widow of Larry H. Miller, put the team and arena in a trust. Family can't take out profits from the team, but who knows what exceptions exist, such as salary for being members of the trust's board.

That was interesting. The way it was being sold was that it cements the team's long-term future in Salt Lake City, which sounds great. The story goes on to say they couldn't make big moves without a supermajority of the board. But the board is going to be all family members, so if they did confront a decision about moving, it would still be the family making the call, right?

I am suspicious that what this really is, is a tax shield like the one Mitt had (and many rich people have) through a foundation, and that the headlines and narrative about community commitment was a PR side benefit.

Really good episode of Lou Grant dealt with Mrs. Pynchon's nephews trying to wrestle control of the Trib away from her because they wanted the profits to open taco stands.

The Cavaliers' Supreme Chancellor says the team doesn't have enough to win a title and wants more playmakers. So because LeBron can't possibly be the problem who is now on the chopping block?
