Unless I'm missing someone, looks like our "under .500" bowl teams are Hawaii (6-7), Mississippi State (5-7), North Texas (5-7) and maybe Army (6-6 heading into Army-Navy game).

North Texas?!?!? Must have some real Rhodes scholars on that team!

Soon as Hawaii became bowl-eligible, its ticket for the Aloha Bowl was punched.

They were lucky as hell to beat NC State, but don't forget that they beat Auburn and Florida State on the road and Louisville at home.

There's nothing wrong with North Texas.

I was just thinking the same thing — it's only fitting to be able to go to a bowl after giving up 30 points or more eight times.

That is a damn good list. The one thing I'd say is that I would move up Alabama's annihilation of Southern Cal. That, above anything else, is what gives the Tide the aura of being head and shoulders over the rest.

Interesting to see who has two of the seven best victories. And I don't disagree.

I recall that the year that Kentucky nearly went undefeated in basketball, they laid one on UCLA like that early in the season that gave people the same impression.

I would say that Rutgers was omitted from that list.

16 team playoff, auto bid for every conference champion, with the rest filled in by at large bids.

Just imagine if that team had a secondary, or at least a secondary that at least looked for the ball.
