When the Headline Goes Wrong

At the risk of being a pedant, and I empathise somewhat because I can see how it happened, this is quite the mistake. The internet being the internet, an eagle eyed Redditor spotted it.

    A headline from itv.com

Man who posed as fake police officer to attack girls is jailed for life

Of course, the subject of the story didn't pose as a fake police officer. He posed as an actual police officer. Posing as a fake police officer and posing as an actual police officer are two very different things.

Also, on a similar but related matter, the itv.com story neglects to mention that the guy was also jailed for nine years in 2003 for an assault on a nine year old girl.
